Jack Rogers

John (Jack) C. Rogers

 

Jack Rogers formerly of Potlatch, ID passed away the morning of June 22, 2010 in Caldwell, ID.

Jack was born in Tofield, Alberta, Canada December 3, 1933 to William L. and Martha Carlton Rogers. At age 14 he moved to Deer Park, WA to live with family.

After graduating from Deer Park High School, Jack joined the U.S.M.C. where he served in Korea and then Adak, Alaska.

After almost 5 years in the Marines, Jack moved back to Deer Park area where he worked on dairy farms before working at East Sprague Wrecking in Spokane, WA.

Later he moved to the Potlatch, ID area where he did various types of work including guided hunts before going to work for Bennett Lumber Products in Princeton, ID. Jack was a dedicated worker for the 27 years he worked on the trimmer at Bennett’s. In 1996 Jack retired from Bennett’s and the following year he moved back to Canada to be closer to his sister.

In 2009 he moved back to the Potlatch area to be closer to his children and for health reasons. Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanical work, riding 4-wheelers, woodworking and spending time with his family.

Jack is survived by his loyal companion, Buddy Too, his 5 children, Carla Jo Nieto, of Lewiston, ID, Jackie (Brad) Meckel of Potlatch, Robin (Bob) Grimes of Plummer, Michael Harlan of Duvall, WA, and Terry Palmer of Moscow, One brother Bill Rogers of Ontario, Canada. 9 grandchildren, Brandi, John, Corey, Tyson, DonNell, Brian, Tayon, Christopher, Kathleen, and Nicholas and 8 great grandkids, Kaylene, James, Shayla, Samantha, Ayla, Presten, Braiden, and Kaine. And numerous friends and nieces and nephews and all the memories we all have with him.

He was preceded in death by his parents William Leslie and Martha Carlton Rogers, two sisters Maxine (Rogers) Kraft and Darlene (Rogers) Burt.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund or the Potlatch V.F.W. Scholarship Fund.

The memorial service will be held Saturday July 10, 2010 at Freeze Cemetery, Potlatch, ID at 1:00 PM with a reception to follow at the Palouse River Community Center in Princeton.
