Verla Hall

Verla E. Hazeltine Hall born Feb.26, 1915 to Joseph P. Hazeltine and Alma Gutches Hazeltine at Viola, Idaho.

Married to Evan L. Hall on August 10, 1933.

Verla was proceeded in death by her husband Evan L. Hall in 1959; and brothers: Lowell Hazeltine, 1953, Garnett Hazeltine, 1959, Marvin Hazeltine 1998, Gerald Hazeltine, 1996, sister Wilda Hunter 2005 and both her parents, Joseph H. Hazeltine, in 1970, and Alma J. Hazeltine, 1971.

Verla lived all her life in Northern Idaho except for 4 months during 1945 when she followed her husband in World War II to Lawton, Oklahoma where he was stationed at Fort Sill Oklahoma.

Verla is survived by two daughters: Barbara Ann Romine and husband Del Romine of Hayden ID, Janice Lynn Ward and husband Ralph Ward of Rathdrum, ID, and one son: Louis Dean Hall and wife Charlotte Hall of Sun City, AZ. She is also survived by one sister: Thelma Pelfrey of Spokane, WA; as well as seven Grandchildren: Douglass Jacobs, Peggy Birdsell, Dale Jacobs, Evan Hall, Louis Hall, Jr., Beth White, and Scott Hudson; and Great Grandchildren: Wayne E. Jacobs, Frank Jacobs, Morgan Garrison, Max Birdsell, Evan Birdsell, Taylor Jacobs, Britney Jacobs, Hazel Grace White, Keyliegh Hall, Devon Hall and Jaden Hall; plus many Great Great Grandchildren and step Grandchildren.

Verla’s early married life was on a farm North of Deary Idaho in a small area known then as Avon, Idaho. Later she and husband, Evan Hall, operated a café in Genesee, Idaho, called Evan’s Café from 1950 to 1957. After the death of her husband Verla became the Post Master in the Genesee Post Office for 16 years, retiring in 1978. She moved from Genesee in 1996 to Moscow, ID and into the Clark House Assisted Living Center in 2000 and finally to Life Care Center in Sandpoint, ID in 2004. She passed away there on Sunday morning, July 25, 2010.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Shorts Funeral Home, Moscow, ID. A graveside burial service will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the Viola Cemetery followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at the Genesee Community Church. You are invited to a luncheon reception following the Memorial Service in the church basement.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Genesee Community Church or the Genesee Fire Department.
